Join us for a weekend of Tibetan Yoga teachings with Dr James Bae
Friday:
In this evening lecture and practice session, participants will be guided through the foundations of lujong and also learn about Tibetan medical and yogic concepts that apply specifically to health preservation and rejuvenation.
As a doctor of Asian medicine and a specialist in Tibetan Yoga, Dr. Bae will introduce the foundations of longevity practice drawing from the compositions of his main teachers as well as many unique lujong systems. Tibetan yoga’s somatic or bodily practices include methods such as tsalung trulkhor, referred to as “winds and channels magical movements.” In addition, the term “lujong” is a broader umbrella of breath and movement-based practices, associated with these tantric yogic methods that are often focused on health. Lujong practices are often more accessible and wide ranging in terms of basic movements and gentle, subtle breathing that can often be more suitable, and practical for daily cultivation.
Saturday & Sunday:
The weekend workshop will focus on learning rare Tibetan Yoga lujong movement and breath practices, both for meditation and rejuvenation. Dr. Bae will introduce the foundations of longevity practice drawing from the compositions of his main teachers and discuss in detail many of the unique lujong systems. Tibetan yoga’s somatic or bodily practices include methods such as tsalung trulkhor, referred to as “winds and channels magical movements.” ‘Lujong’ can be translated as ‘bodily training’ often referring to the foundational Tibetan Yoga exercises, easily learned by most, regardless of physical type or disposition. Dr. James will also introduce accompanying ‘healing meditations’ from the yogic tradition. Participants will learn a comprehensive practice and also enrich their understanding of how Tibetan Yoga practices can enhance formal meditation and promote health and well-being.
Friday evening recordings will be available. The weekend workshop will not be recorded due to the interactive and transmission-based nature of the subject matter.
Please note that the sponsor registration fee allows us to provide financial assistance for those in need and support for members of the monastic community who wish to attend. Thank you for your generosity.
