Foundations of Buddhist Yoga: Wisdom and Healing In Inner Yoga (Module 1) In a series of four successive retreats, we explore the Foundations of Buddhist Yoga and Meditation.
Module 1 explores the foundational principles and methods of yoga and breath practice beginning with Lujong and an introduction to Tsalung Trulkhor. In this standalone course, you will learn the main yogic exercises along with theory that will help you apply these practices toward meditation and wellbeing.
Tibetan yoga’s main physical practices can be divided into lujong, and tsalung trulkhor. Lujong can be translated as ‘bodily exercises’ or ‘bodily training.’ We will share lujong methods related to the five elements and various body systems, serving as cultivation practice to prepare for more advanced subtle energy and wind training.
Tsa lung is translated as “winds and channels” and trulkhor as “magical movement“. We will clarify how these subtle breath practices can be skillfully engaged in relation to meditation and Buddhist practice as a whole.
In Buddhist yoga, we utilize somatic and energetic methods to more deeply experience and embody wisdom and compassion. Facets of yogic healing and advanced subtle body meditation are introduced in each successive model, beginning with sound (mantra), visualization and nonconceptual meditation.
