Kundalini: Awaken the Power Within 

The inner energy known as Kundalini Shakti, a super-conscious potential inherent in human embodiment, has been recognized, cultivated and transmitted throughout human history

 and in diverse cultures. In these three sessions, we will survey varieties of Kundalini experience as well as sample contemplative methods used to manifest it’s awakening.

Session 1: One Power, Many Names

• Consider ancient motifs and symbols depicting the subtle body pathways of Kundalini.
• Identify parallels among diverse esoteric traditions.
• Understand the connection between Yoga postures and Kundalini energy
• Practice physiologic and psychological preparations to tap into this limitless source.

Session 2:  Initiation 

• Methods of awakening: Spontaneous; Lineage Transmission;  Grace
• Igniting the Power of Breath: Pranayama

Mary Reilly Nichols, Director of Nalanda Institute’s Yoga, Mind & Spirit, has been teaching meditation and yoga philosophy for over 3 decades. She spent ten years teaching a breath based therapy in the treatment of stuttering and now teaches breathing, mindful practices and stress management in corporate and medical settings. Mary holds a BA in anthropology from Harvard University, and completed five years of residency in the meditation ashrams of Swami Muktananda both in India and in the US.
