If you’re grieving, you might feel alone, destroyed, numb, or in shock. Kimberly Brown, meditation teacher and author of Navigating Grief and Loss: 25 Buddhist Practices to Keep Your Heart Open to Yourself and Others, designed this retreat to provide you with the resources and tools you need to help you normalize and rehumanize your grief. Though all of us will encounter death and change, we can do so with kindness and wisdom, and develop the skills and heart to mourn loss with patience, tenderness, and clarity. In this online and in-person event, Kimberly will teach you to bring gentleness and care to your body, mind, and spirit with traditional Buddhist practices, modern therapeutic tools, compassionate listening and friendship. You’ll cultivate your inherent compassion and good sense to support yourself and those closest to you through the pain and sadness of mourning, loss, and grief. We’ll have periods of guided silent sitting and walking meditation, with time for discussion and questions too.

At this retreat you’ll learn to:

  • Develop concentration and focus
  • Meet difficult emotions with gentleness
  • Learn to become a reliable friend to yourself
  • Recognize the wisdom of your body
  • Cultivate clarity and make wise choices
  • Develop gratitude and appreciation for your precious human life and your loss

This retreat is for anyone who is struggling with the loss of someone close to them—a friend, sibling, spouse, parent, grandparent, relative, colleague, or pet. Those experiencing anticipatory grief—if someone you love is dying right now—you are also welcome. No experience with meditation or mindfulness is necessary.

You can also participate in the associated six-week program Navigating Grief and Loss: Support for Healing on Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm EST. Discover more and register for this program at the link below.

We’ll be using exercises from Kimberly’s book. You can order a copy at this link, but it is not mandatory for the event.
