Tibet House US is planning its second global virtual concert featuring exclusively Tibetan artists from across all musical genres to be broadcast virtually and will premier on December 10 at 7pm EST on Youtube and all Tibet House US social media platforms through Wednesday, December 13 through midnight Eastern Time. In alignment with our mission to spotlight the culture and art of Tibetan people, this annual festival highlights the rich diversity of Tibetan musical expression and showcases a vibrant range of traditional and contemporary music. Lhakar translates to “white Wednesday” in Tibetan and is astrologically considered a special day in the week to honor His Holiness the Dalai Lama symbolically with a white scarf (katak). In recent years, Lhakar has become a worldwide movement of the day to intentionally speaking Tibetan within the home and with each other, eating Tibetan food, wearing traditional clothes, and shopping at Tibetan owned businesses, symbolically uniting Tibetans around the world in the diaspora and inside Tibet. December 10 is considered a holiday since 1989 when i HH Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The festival will premier on December 10 at 7pm EST on Youtube and all Tibet House US social media platforms. We will broadcast the Festival from Sunday, December 10- Wednesday, December 13 through midnight EST
