How do we integrate our close relationships with a spiritual path? In our intimacy with others, there can be many opportunities for reflection, true selflessness, and the maturing of genuine spiritual qualities. As a wife, mother, and teacher, Lama Tsering Everest will provide insights into how to approach relationships when our ordinary models fail us and our worldly responsibilities seem to conflict with our spiritual aspirations.
In the warm, direct, and humorous manner for which she is known, Lama Tsering will discuss how to make relationships an essential element of spiritual growth. From the Buddhist perspective, relationships are not about getting but about giving selflessly without expecting anything in return. We serve our partners not to gain affection but to learn to overcome our self-interest and transform our small-mindedness to alleviate the suffering of others. One’s ability to love and care for all living beings can begin at home.
